What are DOMS?

Delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS) is the pain and stiffness felt in your muscles after unaccustomed or strenuous exercise🤓

DOMS is felt most strongly 24 to 72 hours after the exercise. The mechanism is not completely understood, but the pain is ultimately thought to be a result of micro-trauma (mechanical damage at a very small scale) to the muscles being exercised.

After such exercise, your muscle adapts rapidly to prevent soreness if and when the exercise is repeated. This is called the "repeated-bout effect”, and is the reason you don’t get the same intensity of soreness each time. Which is great news for us all đź‘ŹđźŹĽ!

DOMS can be reduced by ensuring that you gradually increase the intensity of a new exercise program. Remember, it takes time and practice to build the muscles and control you want and the journey can be tough🏋🏼‍♂️.

In the end the results can be perfect, Happy Training!
