What is posture?

Posture is the position you hold your body 🤸🏼‍♀️🕺🏼and there are two types:

1. Dynamic posture: how you hold yourself when you are moving, like when you are walking, running, or bending over to pick up something.
2. Static posture: how you hold yourself when you are not moving, like when you are sitting, standing, or sleeping.

It is important to make sure that you have good dynamic and static posture.

As physios we bang on about posture all the time to our clients. But it’s not as hard as you think. Good posture is more than standing up as straight as you can (soldier like💂🏼‍♂️) so you can look your best.

The key to good posture is the position of your spine. Your spine has three natural curves - at your neck (C spine), mid back (T spine) , and low back (L spine). A good posture should maintain these curves in a mid range, not increase/decrease them.

It really is that simple!😊

And remember good posture is an important part of your long-term health. ❤️Making sure that you hold your body the right way, whether you are moving or still, can prevent pain, injuries, and other health problems.
